The maths of healthcare

Run time: 12.00 – 13.00

The healthcare crisis in the UK has been headline news for the past few years. The system is overwhelmed, but there may be an answer to these issues from an unusual source: Mathematics. When it comes to making the best use of scarce resources and helping to evaluate what is working well, we can use complex mathematical modelling to find solutions.

Join Christina Pagel from University College London to discover how essential processes like predicting demand for intensive care beds, and reporting hospitals’ performance requires close collaboration between clinical teams, patients and mathematicians.

Please note that this event will include discussion of disease and death.
