Tales from the ancient oceans

Run time: 19.00 – 22.30

Mud. It might seem like a useless piece of dirt, but when you look a little deeper, on a microscopic level, it holds multitudes of stories.

Kate Littler from the University of Exeter studies mud from the bottom of the ocean, and uses the microfossils contained within it to understand what it can tell us about ancient climates.

Join her and a team of scientists from the International Ocean Discovery Program for a whistle stop tour of deep oceans. Together, you’ll uncover ancient climates and learn how to recover sediment cores from underneath thousands of meters of ocean water.
