Risky robots

Run time: 11.30 – 12.30

When someone mentions Artificial Intelligence (AI) what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Most of us think of humanoid robots, like the ones we see in films such as Terminator. However, AI exists in many forms, from computer algorithms to fridges.

AI has always raised interesting ethical questions, but Vaishak Belle from the University of Edinburgh will take us through some of the newest concerns that we don’t always think about.

From computer models that amplify biases present in the data used to train them, to large language models such as ChatGPT promoting the cutting of corners, he’ll unpick some of the future considerations around this technology.
