What the phage?!
Run time: 11.00 – 16.00
Play the phage games, and use AR and VR to explore a fascinating, unseen world.
Bacteriophages – aka phages – are viruses that only infect bacteria.
They’re our most common microbe, existing in unimaginably large numbers. Phages have been around since life on Earth began and may be our best chance to control bacterial infections and combat antimicrobial resistance.
Meet experts from the Department of Clinical Infection, Microbiology and Immunology and the Institute of Infection, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences (University of Liverpool) to find out more about phages and why they matter.
You can experience the world at the scale of a phage using virtual reality (VR) headsets. And take part in an augmented reality (AR) treasure hunt, tracking down phages at locations across Liverpool.
Please note that this event involves discussions of cystic fibrosis. It will also include the use of VR headsets which are not suitable for those under the age of 14 and some people may find disorientating.
