Warning: Landslides

Run time: 11.30 – 17.00
The earth beneath your feet is on the move. We need your help!

Join scientists from the British Geological Survey to investigate the dangers of landslides: events where millions of cubic tonnes of rock, sand and earth slip away from a hillside.

Climate change means landslides in the UK are both more likely and more severe. Knowing how to cope with them is crucial.

Take part in an experiment to observe and measure the effects of a landslide. Using a large-scale model of a mountain and various materials, together you’ll investigate how geology, ecology, weather and engineering can combine to either cause or prevent disaster.

This is a hands-on opportunity to learn more about the work the British Geological Survey does to protect people and communities from landslides.
