The superpower of zines!

Run time: 13.00 – 14.30

Make your own zine, explore the history of DIY zine culture, and find out about the therapeutic potential of zine making.

If you’re new to zines, they’re handmade magazines, self-published on paper in small batches. They might contain writing, drawings, photography or collage, and they can range from journalistic to completely abstract.

Join the University of Liverpool and Asylum Link Merseyside to discover how zine making can create safe spaces for self-expression and collective storytelling. Find out how zine making can build communities and help people who have experienced trauma.

There’ll be a chance to explore the University of Liverpool Library's Special Collections and Archive's historic zine archive, as well as to experience the superpower of zine making first hand.

Please note that this event may involve discussions of war, trauma and refugee experiences.

This event follows a panel discussion exploring the therapeutic power of zine making. Find out more here- Giving voice to refugee stories.
