The art of fluid dynamics

Run time:
Session 1    16:30-16:55
Session 2    17:05-17:30
Session 3    17:40-18:05
You might just think paper marbling is a series of random pretty patterns, but there’s a reason it’s a UNESCO heritage craft. Creating these designs takes skill, precision, and some complex chemistry and physics.
In fact, paper marbling can help us to think about fluid dynamics, and phenomena such as surface tension, surfactants, viscoelasticity, and the Marangoni effect – those little tears of wine you see running down the glass.
Join Liva Donina and a team of researchers from Imperial College London to try your hand at mastering the art of marbling and become an expert in fluid dynamics.
