What is the art of creation?
Uncover how our early beginnings can shape the health of future generations. Making its European debut at the John Hansard Gallery, this interactive exhibition is a unique exploration of pregnancy and the earliest stages of life. Inspired by artist residencies at Canadian research labs, the artworks bring together art, science and lived experience to advocate for the importance of investing in and supporting people who are, and those intending on becoming, pregnant.
Created by McMaster University in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the exhibition has been curated by the University of Southampton to highlight the complex interaction between genetic, environmental and societal factors that can influence the health of our communities.
Alongside the exhibition, the team will be on hand to talk about the science of early life origins and guide you through creative activities to reflect on what you discover. These drop-in sessions will run on Friday 17:00-20:00, Saturday 15:00-17:00 and Sunday 13:00-14:30.
This event is part one of a four-part creative event series exploring lifelong health.
Please note that this workshop will involve discussions around pregnancy and lived experiences of reproductive health.
