Tech vs. loneliness

Run time: 12.00 – 17.00

Is technology making you lonely?

This collection of communication gadgets new and old – from landlines and faxes to social media and smartphones – charts how technology has evolved and ask if these things make us feel more connected to other people, or less.
It explores loneliness as a public health issue that we should all care about.

Join David Ellis (University of Bath) to reflect on communication tech through the ages and to share ideas for new technologies that could help reduce loneliness.

New tech often leaves some people behind – let’s explore how it might become more inclusive. Rather than wait until a new digital technology is commonplace, could we identify and tackle the challenges it might bring in advance?

Please note, this venue for this event is on flat level but has uneven gravel surfaces. This makes the space difficult to navigate by wheelchair.
