Stranded! Save our ship!

Run time: 11.30 – 17.00

In addition to this run, this event will also be independently run by the Liverpool John Moores University team on Wednesday 10 and Friday 12 September, between 11.00 – 15.00.

Step aboard and back in time as a ship prepares to leave Royal Albert Dock in 1846. Experience the highs and lows of life at sea as you visit ports around the world.

When the ship gets stranded, will you be able to work out what’s gone wrong and find a way home?

Join a crew from Liverpool John Moores University for a time-travelling virtual reality adventure.

Using technologies like a ship simulator and VR goggles, you and the crew will investigate what caused the stranding. You’ll then travel to the present day and into the future to discover how the ship’s challenges change over time.

This is a chance to dive into Liverpool’s rich maritime tradition and into topics including climate change, marine bioscience architecture and engineering.

Please note that this event includes the use of VR headsets which are not suitable for those under the age of 14 and some people may find disorientating. Some of the activities taking place on the ship are not wheelchair accessible.
