Self preservation: Create your own DNA jewellery

Run time: 15.30 – 16.30

What if the most personalised material you could work with
was you?

In this creative workshop, you'll extract your own DNA using
a simple, safe method then suspend it in resin to create a bespoke piece of
jewellery.

Liverpool based artist Gina Czarnecki will guide you through
the process while discussing the potential, uses and ethical dilemmas of
biomedical technology.

This piece is inspired by Palaces; a magical sculpture
embedded with hundreds of milk teeth that will be on show in the Liverpool
Museum throughout the British Science Festival.

Please note that in this workshop, you will be invited to
use a small sample containing your DNA (e.g hair strand or finger nail) to
preserve them in UV-Resin jewellery.

This event is part of the Museum of Liverpool takeover, a
day of free talks, workshops and activities across the museum. Join us on
Sunday 14 September 10.30-17.00.
