How do we build the animal internet?
Run time: 10.30 – 11.30
Imagine a world where animals aren’t limited by the physical boundaries of cages, tanks or natural habitats, but instead can roam free online.
Ilyena Hirskyj-Douglas (University of Glasgow) invites you to consider what would happen if digital connectivity could extend beyond humans to include wildlife and our pets – from parrots and chimpanzees to cats and dogs.
Ilyena will discuss her research, arguing that animal lives could be enriched with access to digital networks. She’ll reflect on what animals might make of the internet and how we could create devices that connect them to each other.
Join her to explore the possibility of an animal internet, and to think through what our responsibilities would be as designers, builders and caretakers.
