Getting to the bottom of depression

Run time: 18:00 – 19:00
Depression wouldn’t be referred to as the common cold of mental health if it wasn’t so widespread in society. Supporting those of us managing the condition requires identifying what are the underlying causes.
It is all too easy to assume mental health conditions are caused by something that goes on within us, rather than external social factors. However, medical approaches for understanding depression often rely on genetics and neuroscience.
Join Mark McDermott from the University of East London to discover how focusing on adversity and personal vulnerability leads to a better understanding of depression causes and treatments.
