The art of quantum

Run time: 17.00 – 18.00
Since the first development of quantum mechanics one hundred years ago, physicists, philosophers and artists have been grappling with a profound question. How do the abstract equations of quantum theory relate to the nature of reality?
Both quantum scientists and artists attempt to illuminate the intangible interactions and abstract concepts of the sub-atomic world. Collaboration between the disciplines not only democratises highly complex quantum concepts but also opens new avenues of exploration for scientists and artists alike.
This panel will bring together quantum researchers with a passion for art and artists captivated by the quantum world. Join Jess Wade (Imperial College London), Nicola Triscott (FACT) and others to explore what makes quantum theory so uniquely inspiring, how each discipline has sought to represent and communicate the quantum realm, and how quantum imagery and language have permeated mainstream culture.
