Woman, immigrant, entrepreneur

15 September 2022 - 15:00

Queen's Building, Lecture Theatre 1.10, De Montfort University

Event duration: 60 minutes

What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think about migrant women? Because of their depiction in the media, it probably wasn’t ‘entrepreneur’. But, in the last two years, 60% of businesses started in Leicester were set up by migrant women.

Natasha Katuta Mwila from De Montfort University is here to demystify how we think about immigration. She’ll share the lived experiences of women migrants in Leicester, how they have adapted to a new city, and the positive impacts of immigration on the economy and technology.
