Where is my mind?

Run time: 15:00 – 16:00

With increasing globalisation, more and more people are living in a country they weren’t born in. Migration is a growing experience for many people and for multiple reasons. But settling in a new place can be difficult for many reasons, some more apparent than others.

Join Ezenwa Olumba for this year’s Presidential Address for General Science where he’ll explore the phenomenon of 'Cognitive Immobility' a psychological effect where your mind remains in your ancestral home whilst you’re physically in your new home.
Through interplay between genetic variation and the early life environment, Ezenwa will show how our outcomes in later life can be affected, from health and well-being to educational success.
