The politician’s child

13 September 2022 - 13:00

Queen's Building, Lecture Theatre 1.10, De Montfort University

Event duration: 60 minutes

Paparazzi, scandal and living in the public eye are all part of your existence when growing up with a politician parent. But what impact might this have on your sense of wellbeing? Do these children carry forward an emotional and mental legacy into adulthood?

Furthermore, what can a new study of the mental health experiences of these children reveal in the social media era? Through her research Elizabeth Hurren, from the University of Leicester, is exploring the effects on mental wellbeing of children thrust into the public eye because of their high-profile parents. Join her to find out more.

Please note this event includes discussion of mental health and mentions suicide.
