The million-dollar maths problem

17 September 2022 - 11:00

The Clock Tower & Humberstone Gate, Leicester

This is a drop-in event, running between 11.00-16.30 – there is no need to book.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, online deliveries became the norm for many people. But how do delivery drivers reach each front door in the quickest and most efficient way? The maths is more complex than you think. Getting it right could save a huge amount of time and money.

Using a limited amount of string, The Operational Research Society challenges you to take on the role of a delivery driver and connect a series of pegs via the shortest route. See if you’ve got what it takes to plot the most efficient route and solve the million-dollar problem.

This drop-in activity is part of our Saturday City Centre takeover
