The hidden life of microplastics

13 September 2022 - 15:00

Vijay Patel Building, Lecture Theatre 4.05, De Montfort Uni

Event duration: 60 minutes

Until now, little has been known of the effects of microplastics on the human body and the conditions they might be causing.

Microplastics are created when plastic products break down into pieces smaller than the size of a sesame seed.

Here, as part of her Science and The Arts Section Presidential Address, Bhavani Esapathi from The Invisible Labs will share insight into the wider implications and inherent politics involved in the rise of chronic, autoimmune and respiratory conditions that appear to be a result of microplastics.

Please note this event includes discussion of chronic illness, and medical and surgical imagery may be used.
