Stories of sound
14 September 2022 - 11:00
Vijay Patel Building, Lecture Theatre 4.05, De Montfort Uni

Event duration: 60 minutes
Can you think of an experience where a particular sound has transported you to a different time or place?
James Andean from De Montfort University is a sound artist, and believes passionately that the role sound has in our perception of the world often goes unrecognised. This year he will give the Award Lecture for Science and The Arts.
His research focuses on ‘sonic narratives’, which unpicks the unique and incredible capacity that sound has for communicating actions, environments, and meanings within our lives – transporting us to new and remembered worlds, as well as building a sense of the world around us.
