Sensing the body’s chemistry
15 September 2022 - 14:00
Vijay Patel Building, Fletcher Hub 4.09, De Montfort University

Event duration: 60 minutes
Our body is a delicate balance of chemical reactions that keep us functioning. Recognising changes in these reactions is fundamental to detecting and managing several conditions, for example, diabetes.
In this Chemistry Section Presidential Address, Ruchi Gupta from the University of Birmingham will share her research which brings together engineering, chemistry and physics to develop wearable optical biosensors to measure these changes.
Discover more about how these devices could ensure timely and accurate diagnosis of diseases, which is a first step towards offering the right treatment at the right time, and her vision of medical devices of the future.
