Photography and scientific discovery
15 September 2022 - 20:30
Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester

Event duration: 60 minutes
The invention of ‘science’ as we know it today emerged hand-in-hand with photography in the 19th century.
In laboratories and darkrooms (and sometimes converted cupboards) across the land, innovators, amateur chemists, astronomers and industrialists added their findings to photographic research. It transformed science just as much as science informed photography.
Hear from Kelley Wilder from De Montfort University as she explores the complex relationship between imagery and discovery.
This talk is part of our Leicester Museum and Art Gallery Takeover event.
