Leicester’s push towards sustainable textiles
13 September 2022 - 16:00
Vijay Patel Building, Fletcher Hub 4.09, De Montfort University

Event duration: 60 minutes
One of the UK strategies to address climate change is encouraging businesses to achieve 'net zero' greenhouse gas emissions.
This might mean powering buildings with renewable energy, transporting goods with electric vehicles or cargo bicycles and only using raw materials produced sustainably. For many, this means rethinking entire business models. Andrew Reeves and Claire Lerpiniere from De Montfort University and Asha Mistry from University of Leicester have been assisting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Leicester’s fashion and textiles industry to explore what this means for them.
Join them and local business owners from the fashion industry who’ll discuss what net zero means for them. What challenges do they face in becoming sustainable, and what innovative approaches are underway?
