Worldwide, someone will be the victim of a stroke every five minutes. In almost 50% of these cases that person will suffer the loss of sensation in their upper limbs.
There is currently no easy fix to bring this sensation back. However, Amit Pujari from the University of Hertfordshire is looking to the fields of neuroscience and engineering to develop a potential treatment.
In his Engineering, Technology and Industry Award Lecture he will share his new portable device which delivers tiny vibrations to their fingertips, bringing touch sensations back to affected limbs, significantly improving patient’s physical ability and quality of life.
