For the love of food and music

15 September 2022 - 19:00

Leicester Museum & Art Gallery, Leicester

Event duration: 60 minutes

Does listening to your favourite song, or eating your favourite food put you in a good mood? If so, have you ever thought about how these two actions can interact to impact our behaviour?

Join psychologists Annemieke van den Tol from University of Lincoln and Helen Coulthard from De Montfort University for a sensory feast, exploring the interaction of food and music and their psychological effects.

They have discovered that listening to certain types of music can help in reducing cravings for unhealthy snacks. Whilst you snack on your favourite treats and listen to tunes, they’ll demonstrate how music is able to reduce these so-called "emotional eating" behaviours.

This talk is part of our Leicester Museum and Art Gallery Takeover event.
