Child homelessness: sharing the voices of the unheard
13 September 2022 - 11:00
Outside Leicester Gallery, De Montfort University

This is a drop-in event, running from 11:00-16:00 – there is no need to book.
There are currently just under 600,000 children in the UK who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness. The COVID-19 pandemic and cost of living rises continues to exacerbate the problem.
Children under five in temporary accommodation are uniquely “invisible”, being excluded from research and national policies as they don’t pose an obvious need as “homeless”. They continue to fall through cracks in health and social care.
Immerse yourself in their experience with the CHAMPIONS project art exhibition. Fusing storytelling and street art, it shares lived experiences and children’s artistic interpretations of what makes a home a safe and healthy space to dream, learn, and grow.
