CERN for the senses

What’s better than a microscope?
Designed to detect some of the tiniest yet most energetic particles ever created on Earth, the ATLAS detector sits in a cavern 100m below a Swiss village. The data produced contributes to new theories that better describe our universe.
In 2015, award-winning artists Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt, who together form the artist duo Semiconductor, participated in a research residency at CERN. They were the first to have received permission to work directly with raw data generated by the experiment, and produced the large-scale immersive installation HALO.
Join them as they share their ideas and unusual experiences at the largest particle physics laboratory in the world.
